Saves configuration of NETServer 3.2.x and reloads once version 4.0 has been
added.
NETServer 8/16 Plus utilizes the same hardware platform as the NETServer 8/16,
which won the CommunicationsWeek1996 CommWeekMAX Award for its “ease of
configuration and use and set of robust features that go beyond the
competition...”
NETServer 8/16 Plus also supports the new x2™ Technology as a client-end device
that allows data to be received at up to 56 Kbps* from an x2-enabled host-end
(I-modem™) device, across ordinary analog telephone lines. Now even small
companies can provide high-speed dial-in access to network resources and the
Internet, to branch offices and employees at home or on the road.
NETServer 8/16 Plus is a high-performance remote access server which replaces
separate terminal servers, individual analog modems or modem banks and routers.
NETServer 8/16 Plus offers ease of deployment and use, optimal performance, a
wide
range of application and protocol support, security, scalability and
manageability to make remote access as close as possible to a direct network
connection.
The high-performance NETServer 8/16 Plus offers user-to-LAN, dial-in, dial-out
and LAN-to-LAN multiprotocol routing over analog phone lines. The NETServer 8/16

APPLICATIONS:
Remote Access. Remote users are demanding access to corporate LANs now more than
ever. In order for companies to remain competitive, access to LANs and the
business applications that run on them must be available regardless of the
user’s location. NETServer 8/16 Plus provides full access to workgroup,
departmental and corporate network resources, including the Internet, through a
dial-up modem connection. Using analog phone lines and a single telephone
number, telecommuters or traveling users can dial into a NETServer 8/16 Plus
connected to their corporate network.
LAN-to-LAN Routing. NETServer can connect office LANs together over analog phone
lines. Up to 16 channels can be combined using Multilink PPP to route data
between LANs at speeds of 268 Kbps using NETServer/8 Plus or 537 Kbps using
NETServer/16 Plus. Using supported compression protocols, the effective data
transfer rate can be up to four times faster than without compression.
Modem Sharing. Internal network users can share NETServer Plus modems for
dial-out access to the Internet or bulletin boards. The ability to share modems
eliminates the cost of desktop modems and the recurring monthly cost of analog
phone lines at the desktop.
Internet Access. Small or large service providers with remote points-of-presence
(POPs) can utilize NETServer Plus to provide their subscribers with dial-up
access to multiple servers, bulletin board services and the Internet.
