Repeater (3C16210)
The AUI/BNC Repeater
interconnects a thin Ethernet segment to a second segment using any of the major
media types—thick or thin Ethernet, optical fiber, or twisted pair —via an
external transceiver connected to the AUI port.
Like the other
LinkBuilder Repeaters, the AUI/BNC repeater accepts a Transceiver Interface
Module to enable connection to a third segment or a backbone.
Typical applications
for this repeater include linking a thin Ethernet segment to a thick Ethernet
backbone, or connecting small isolated networks to larger environments.
It is most often
used for expanding a thin Ethernet network.
