The 3Com Etherlink 10 ISA network interface card will
work with your 16-bit ISA IBM-compatible PC, every major PC operating system,
and every major network operating system. Plus, you'll see faster data
throughput due to its superior Parallel Tasking® performance. Built to last,
this ISA NIC will work day after day—backed by 3Com's unmatched quality and
reliability. This 10Base2 Ethernet NIC operates with a broad range of Hubs, as
well as half- and full-duplex Switches, over Category 3, 4, or 5 twisted-pair
(3C905-Combo) and thin coaxial wiring.
Easy to install, this NIC features automated
installation for Windows 98 and Windows 95 users—with new 3Com Installation and
Diagnostic Wizard GUI. For PCs running DOS or Windows 3.1, 3Com's Intelligent
Auto-Install software automatically installs the NetWare universal client.
What's more, you can count on the industry's broadest software compatibility.
3Com Etherlink 10 ISA NICs are tested in more network operating systems than any
other NIC. There is no faster and easier way to connect your PC to the network.
3Com's patented Parallel Tasking technology delivers high throughput to ISA PCs,
eliminating network bottlenecks and maximizing application performance
DynamicAccess® LAN agent 2.0 gives desktops the intelligence to improve network
management, administration, and performance, delivering smart solutions to IS
problems
The EtherDisk® diskette makes installation exceptionally quick and easy—whether

Network Interface Card Overview
The four versions of the 3Com® EtherLink® III ISA
3C509B NICs are shown in Figure 1-1. These NICs connect your ISA or EISA PC to an Ethernet network
using up to three different types of media.

Figure 1-1 3C509B Network Interface Cards
Each NIC has a light-emitting diode (LED) called the link LED, which indicates whether there is an active connection between the NIC and the Hub. Shows the cable, connector, transceiver, and maximum network
segments for the various 3C509B NIC models.
