NETBuilder Remote Access and Remote Control Platform V.35/RS-232C or RS-449/RS-232C serial interfaces
The 3Com NETBuilder Remote Access and Remote Control Platform can be either Ethernet - or token ring-based units.
The 3Com NETBuilder Remote Access unit provides one Ethernet or one token ring local area network (LAN) connection and one wide area network (WAN) connection. Via either a low- or high speed serial line, the NETBuilder Remote Access hardware platform can logically connect either a remote IEEE 802.3-based Ethernet segment to another Ethernet LAN or a remote IEEE 802.5-based token ring segment to another token ring LANto any of the NETBuilder family of platforms.
The 3Com NETBuilder Remote Control unit is designed for enviroments that require a large number of small remote office networks to be connected to a central site. The NETBuilder Remote Control unit using Boundary Routing can connect with the following remote network segments via either a low- or high speed serial line to a NETBuilder II at the central site.
- IEEE 802.3-based Ethernet
- IEEE 802.5-based token ring
