connectivity on the backbone, to the desktop, and out to remote sites.
Available in 17-slot and 6-slot chassis with several backup power supply
options, the ONline™ System Concentrators support all ONline Ethernet, Token
Ring, and FDDI modules, providing the flexibility to build your network the way
you want it.

The 17-Slot ONline System Concentrator is ideal for areas with a high density of
users or environments that are expanding rapidly. A single 17-slot concentrator
supports up to 360 Ethernet, 140 Token Ring, or 32 FDDI connections. This high
port density saves you money and space by supporting up to twice the number of
users per rack cabinet as conventional systems.
The 17-Slot ONline System concentrator is available in two models: the
load-sharing concentrator and the automatic-switchover concentrator. 3Com offers
you the opportunity to purchase the level of fault-tolerant power protection you
need today, with the option to upgrade in the future.
The load-sharing 17-Slot ONline System Concentrator is the most resilient ONline
concentrator, geared for highly sensitive, mission critical environments that
cannot tolerate interruptions of network operations. It is shipped with enhanced
logic to provide redundant, no-downtime power protection. Configure your System
Concentrator with an optional backup power supply, and there is no downtime at
all should a power cord inadvertently be unplugged or a power supply fail. In
addition, failures are reported to the management system, alerting the network
manager to replace a failed power supply.
The automatic-switchover 17-Slot ONline System Concentrator (Model 3C95017C)
also provides built-in power supply switchover
capability. In the event of power supply failure, the concentrator switches over
to the backup supply within several seconds. This satisfies the fault-tolerance
needs of most environments at a lower price.
A load-sharing power supply is available factory-installed as Model 3C95017C-LS
or an upgrade.
Use Model 3C95017C-LS-UPG to ensure zero impact to network users during power
supply switchover.
Both concentrators are equipped with these standard components: a 17-Slot
chassis, Fault-Tolerant Controller Module, 325 Watt power supply, fan unit,
cable management tray, and an adjustable rack-mount kit.
